Resident Evil Requiem Announced — A New Chapter in Survival Horror

Capcom reveals Resident Evil Requiem, the next mainline entry in the iconic survival horror franchise, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

28 April 2026

Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Requiem, the next numbered entry in the legendary survival horror series. Revealed during a surprise showcase event, the game promises to return to the franchise's darker roots while introducing new mechanics that push the genre forward.

A Fresh Setting, Familiar Dread

Resident Evil Requiem takes players to a remote coastal town in Eastern Europe, where a mysterious biological incident has transformed the population. The game features a new protagonist — a civilian with no combat training — forcing players to rely on stealth, improvisation, and environmental puzzles rather than brute force.

Capcom has confirmed the game uses the RE Engine, delivering photorealistic environments and some of the most detailed character models the studio has ever produced. Dynamic weather and a full day-night cycle add new layers of tension to exploration.

What We Know About Gameplay

Early footage shows a greater emphasis on resource scarcity and psychological horror. Enemies adapt to player behaviour, making repeat encounters unpredictable. The inventory system has been overhauled, and Capcom teases a cooperative element that will be revealed closer to launch.

Release Window

Resident Evil Requiem is targeting a release in early 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A playable demo is expected later this year.
